Position Overview

Join a team of dedicated professionals at WSP, a leading engineering and consulting firm specializing in the design of critical infrastructure. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer to contribute to our innovative projects in mission-critical environments.

Your Role

As a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of advanced cooling and HVAC systems tailored for high-performance facilities. Your expertise will play a vital role in ensuring the operational efficiency of data centers and other essential infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide independent support to project teams throughout the design and construction phases.
  • Design and optimize air distribution, hydronic systems, and automated temperature control solutions.
  • Integrate complex mechanical engineering specifications into comprehensive facility designs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create detailed drawings and specifications for architects, contractors, and building owners.
  • Engage in client meetings, offering valuable insights and contributing to discussions.
  • Coordinate with internal project teams and external vendors to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Effectively communicate mechanical engineering concepts to clients and stakeholders.
  • Maintain and develop client relationships through regular interactions.
  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering their professional growth.
  • Oversee all mechanical disciplines, including HVAC, energy management, controls, fire protection, plumbing, and fuel systems.
  • Review and validate mechanical designs and drawings prior to final issuance.
  • Conduct Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses for both existing and new facilities.
  • Select and schedule major mechanical equipment.
  • Develop comprehensive project specifications.
  • Assess and document existing conditions.
  • Perform construction administration duties as required.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, with a focus on building systems.

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a focus on mechanical systems.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical system design for commercial, industrial, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools, including AutoCAD, Revit, Trane Trace, and Pipeflow.
  • In-depth knowledge of building codes and mechanical regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Registered Professional Engineer (PE) status, if applicable.
  • Experience in analyzing and modeling airflow using Computational Fluid Dynamics.
  • Background in mission-critical or data center projects.
  • Experience with international engineering projects.
