Mission Planning and Control Specialist

This position is integral to the operations at one of the premier gateways to space, where our team plays a crucial role in supporting the launch and tracking of various space vehicles. The organization focuses on delivering mission-critical systems for the Department of Defense, as well as civil and commercial space initiatives.

Key Responsibilities- Conduct analysis and execute planning tasks using the official Universal Documentation System (UDS).
- Support Controllers in coordinating personnel actions and managing mission systems during operations.
- Oversee real-time telemetry and Range Safety data essential for launch vehicle tracking.
- Perform operational duties as a Telemetry Controller, Radar Controller, Acquisition Data Systems Controller, and Real-Time Data Controller.
- Coordinate and guide range systems to ensure optimal data performance and operational support.
- Assist in managing daily operations during both test and non-test periods.
- Facilitate pre-test briefings and post-test evaluations.
- Assess system conditions during pre-launch and launch activities, providing recommendations to mission control specialists.
- Execute various duties including planning, scheduling, and supporting daily operations.
- Mentor and train junior Planner/Controllers.
- Develop and refine training procedures for the position.
- Troubleshoot and communicate issues related to telemetry or flight operations in real-time.
- Make necessary adjustments to circuit patching and system configurations as required.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to operating procedures to enhance data quality and performance.
- Prepare reports, procedures, and operational documentation as needed.
- Communicate effectively with mission teams and federal entities to gather information for operational requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Capability to multitask and manage activities during critical countdown phases.
- Ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
- Attention to detail is essential.
- Associate's degree in a technical or analytical field, or equivalent education and experience.
- A minimum of two years of relevant technical experience, with a preference for knowledge in Operations and Maintenance systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
- Willingness to work non-standard hours or weekends as project demands dictate.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- Possession of a valid U.S. Driver's License.
