SpaceX is on a mission to revolutionize space exploration, and we are seeking a dedicated professional to join our Launch Pad Fabrication Team. This role is based in Vandenberg, CA, where you will play a crucial part in our efforts to enable human life on Mars.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
As a Fluid Systems Launch Specialist, you will leverage your diverse engineering expertise to devise innovative solutions for Launch Pad Design, Construction, and Operations. Your primary focus will be on enhancing efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of safety and reliability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Act as the lead engineer for various launch pad fluid systems, including compressible, incompressible, and cryogenic systems.
2. Apply your knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and controls to diagnose and resolve issues in launch pad systems.
3. Supervise and collaborate with a skilled team of technicians to execute design, construction, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks.
4. Drive the development and enhancement of automation processes related to the fluid systems under your purview.
5. Identify and implement improvements to launch pad hardware, software, and operational procedures, fostering continuous enhancement through collaboration with cross-functional teams.
6. Represent SpaceX by presenting engineering data and certification packages to relevant government agencies.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, physics, computer science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional experience with fluid, mechanical, or low voltage electrical systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in a rocket launch/test facility and supporting launch/test operations.
- Proficiency in control systems for remote operations and instrumentation feedback.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as SOLIDWORKS or Siemens NX.
- Knowledge of programming languages like Python for data analysis.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to pass background checks for access to specific facilities.
- Physical capability to handle moderately heavy materials (15 to 35 lbs.).
- Strong mental acuity to operate effectively in high-pressure environments.
