HDGL Process Technology Specialist

A prominent player in the steel manufacturing sector is on the lookout for an HDGL Process Technology Specialist. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and sustaining advanced technologies while spearheading initiatives aimed at enhancing process and product efficiencies, boosting quality, productivity, and yield within the highly automated Hot Dip Galvanizing lines to align with organizational objectives.

This role offers relocation assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishing and nurturing a proficient technical team dedicated to Hot Dip Galvanizing (HDG) technology and innovation.
  • Leading significant enhancement projects that elevate process and product efficiencies, throughput, cost (yield), energy consumption, and environmental sustainability.
  • Delivering technical assistance across all HDG units, reporting on HDG process performance to upper management, and overseeing the enhancement of statistical systems that define product and process capabilities.
  • Creating and refining inspection and testing methodologies, enhancing the functionality and performance of process models and control systems.
  • Upholding a commitment to a safe and healthy work environment with a strong emphasis on quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the HDG Process Technology domain.
  • Experience in major steel mill operations and products with comprehensive knowledge of HDGL processes and technologies.
  • Familiarity with (metal coated) steel strip characteristics and applications.
  • Understanding of heat and mass transfer, combustion, chemical reactions, and equilibrium (fundamentals of chemistry and chemical engineering), as well as metallurgy of steels.
  • Proven knowledge of control systems, instrumentation, and process modeling.
  • Proficient in data analysis and statistics, including design of experiments, data interpretation, and model development.
