Position Summary
We are in search of a Housing Community Coordinator to oversee the effective and secure management of affordable housing facilities designed for senior citizens. The Coordinator will be responsible for supervising staff and property operations to guarantee high-quality, safe housing for residents while adhering to fiscal responsibility. This role involves fostering positive relationships and communication with residents, the Board of Directors, Portfolio Manager, support personnel, regulatory bodies, and other community stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct standard supervisory duties, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, mentoring, task delegation, performance assessment, conflict resolution, and resource allocation.
- Establish positive working relationships with residents, their families, service providers, vendors, contributors, colleagues, and volunteers. Address resident concerns calmly, fairly, and professionally, ensuring thorough documentation of discussions.
- Participate in and oversee activities, meetings, and inspections as required, enhancing community engagement and the property's public image.
- Ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures to comply with legal requirements and administrative agency regulations.
- Manage daily operations of the property management office, ensuring effective communication with residents and maintaining an organized and presentable office environment.
- Conduct compliant marketing and leasing activities for the property.
- Oversee the resident waiting list to ensure compliance with Fair Housing and related guidelines.
- Prioritize and assign tasks among staff; coordinate service work and monitor preventative maintenance efforts.
- Ensure physical asset management aligns with organizational standards, overseeing improvement and repair work.
- Prepare for site inspections by ensuring all necessary documentation is accessible and organized.
- Oversee financial management of the property, maintaining accurate financial records and collaborating with the Portfolio Manager to develop the annual budget.
- Direct the collection of rent and maintain a high occupancy rate.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred.
- Experience in property management, particularly in affordable housing.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Knowledge of HUD/Section 8 and related management systems.
- Familiarity with affordable housing inspections and renovations.
- Proficient in property management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively manage conflict and make decisions under pressure.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
Reporting Structure
This position reports directly to the Vice President of Property Management and supervises daily activities and staff across various functional areas.
