Job Summary

The Oakland Housing Authority is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Resident and Community Service Coordinator II (Project) to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of low-income families and individuals in our community.

As a Resident and Community Service Coordinator II (Project), you will be responsible for providing direct case management services, referrals to partner agencies, and supporting families and individuals served by the Oakland Housing Authority's Public Housing, Section 8, and Local Housing/Sponsor Based Housing Assistance programs.

This is a project-based role, and you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of initiatives and programs that support the needs of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide case management services to families and individuals in the areas of employment and career development, financial literacy, asset building, and Family Self Sufficiency.
  • Refer clients to service providers and conduct regular follow-up to ensure they are receiving the support they need.
  • Manage and coordinate specific Department programs and activities, including employment and career development, financial literacy and asset development, leadership development, youth and education programming, and site-based programs.
  • Develop and maintain positive and results-driven relationships with program participants and partner agencies.
  • Collect and evaluate information on individual and community needs using a variety of survey and assessment tools.
  • Execute effective outreach techniques, including door-to-door contact, telephone calls, and public speaking.
  • Prepare professional reports and business correspondence.
  • Train and coordinate the work of interns and volunteers.
  • Conduct program-related research and develop funding proposals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in sociology, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience performing the duties of a Resident and Community Services Coordinator I at the Authority.
  • Or, a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in sociology, psychology, social work, or a related field, and five years of experience providing services to low-income families and two years of experience supervising staff.
  • Bilingual skills in ASL, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, and/or Spanish are a plus.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license and an insurable driving record.
  • Must be willing and available to work evenings and weekends as required.
