Rehabilitative Care Specialist

Job Type: Full-time

Position Overview:
The Rehabilitative Care Specialist operates under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver exceptional and empathetic rehabilitation services to clients. This role involves executing tailored treatment strategies, educating clients, and collaborating with the rehabilitation team to ensure the best possible recovery outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the execution of personalized treatment strategies as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
2. Provide hands-on therapeutic interventions, including exercise routines, manual therapy, and various modalities.
3. Educate clients and their families on effective exercise methods, home care practices, and lifestyle adjustments to facilitate rehabilitation goals.
4. Instruct clients and their families on the proper use and care of orthotic and prosthetic devices as guided by the Physical Therapist.
5. Maintain and prepare therapeutic equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper functionality.
6. Uphold a safe and hygienic environment for clients and staff, adhering to infection control protocols and safety standards.
7. Collaborate with the Physical Therapist on patient progress, treatment variations, and educational needs.
8. Communicate effectively with colleagues, volunteers, and visitors.
9. Seek guidance from the Physical Therapist when necessary.
10. Maintain professional boundaries and complete thorough documentation of all patient interactions, including progress and treatment responses.
11. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and committees as requested.
12. Schedule client appointments and coordinate transportation as needed.
13. Manage inventory of supplies and ensure timely ordering.
14. Conduct ergonomic training for agency staff, which may involve travel to different locations.

Qualifications:
- Current license and registration as a Physical Therapy Assistant in New York State.
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree program for Physical Therapist Assistants.
- Previous clinical experience is preferred but not mandatory; new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Basic Life Support certification is required; training can be provided upon hire.
- Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling patient information.
- Physical capability to lift and support patients, as well as perform exercises for extended periods.
