Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Optometrist to join our team at the Cerebral Palsy Association of the North Country. As an Optometrist, you will play a critical role in providing primary vision care to our patients, including examining their eyes and performing tests to diagnose vision problems and eye diseases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive eye exams and vision tests to patients of all ages.
- Diagnose and treat eye diseases and disorders, including glaucoma, cataracts, and age-related macular degeneration.
- Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids to correct or conserve vision.
- Provide pre- and postoperative care to patients undergoing eye surgery.
- Develop and implement treatment plans to improve patients' eye health and vision.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry program.
- Current, active New York State professional license registration.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- One (1) year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs., lift and support patients with and without help.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
- Regular exposure to infectious diseases, blood and airborne pathogens, hygiene issues, and ability to tolerate clinical smells and other odors.
- Ability to read digital readouts, recognize colors and operate necessary medical equipment.
- Ability to operate mechanical devices used by patients.
- Ability to wear necessary hospital masks, gowns, gloves and close-toed shoes.
Salary and Benefits:
$72.62 per hour.
