SUMMARY
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in patient care by observing, documenting, and reporting on patients' physical, emotional, and mental states. You will actively participate in care plan discussions and contribute valuable insights for patient evaluations and adjustments.

Your responsibilities include ensuring the emotional and physical comfort of patients, assisting them in adapting to their hospital experience.

ATTRIBUTES
Graduation from an accredited practical/vocational nursing program is required. A current New York State license or permit to practice as a licensed practical nurse is essential.

You should be proficient in performing a variety of technical patient care tasks, including but not limited to catheterizations, vital sign monitoring, and dressing changes.

Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively engage with patients, especially those who may be unwell or distressed.

BLS certification is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the guidance of a registered nurse, the LPN will:
- Execute nursing duties following established protocols.
- Assist physicians during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Administer medications as prescribed, with specific exceptions for intravenous medications.
- Manage intravenous infusions and respond to emergency situations such as shock or respiratory distress.

Support patient rehabilitation through encouraging participation in daily activities and exercises, while ensuring proper body mechanics and alignment.

Be flexible to assist in other nursing units as required.

Perform essential treatments and procedures, including:
- Administering various types of feedings and personal care.
- Applying dressings and managing patient hygiene.
- Collecting specimens and monitoring vital signs.
- Assisting with patient mobility and transfers.
- Providing care for patients in specialized conditions such as isolation or traction.
