Job Summary

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Bachelor's Degree in agricultural economics, business administration, finance, or a related discipline.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in auditing and risk management, particularly concerning collateral and working capital assets.

An advanced comprehension of the agriculture/agribusiness sector, asset lending, loan structuring, credit arrangements, collateral assessments, and general banking products/services.

In-depth knowledge of loan workouts, including bankruptcy, troubled debt restructurings, and the rights of borrowers and creditors.

Extensive understanding of accounting/bookkeeping, banking regulations, operations, and credit practices.

Complex understanding of financial analysis for commercial/corporate and production agricultural credits.

Experience with the Farm Credit System and rolling stock equipment valuations is advantageous.

Familiarity with credit and accounting principles.

Ability to assess livestock/equipment as necessary.


FUNCTIONS:
Prepares comprehensive reports summarizing findings, including borrowing base reporting exceptions and recommendations for corrections and/or enhanced interpretation and reporting.

Engages regularly with the Association's clients to constructively support their understanding of borrowing base report preparation, ensuring accuracy.

Implements a credible collateral audit strategy tailored to each client while encompassing critical auditing dimensions of a borrower's working capital-based loan transactions.

Coordinates the scheduling of collateral audits, establishing a tickler system for timely alerts to Association staff regarding upcoming audits.

Recommends improvements regarding individual transactions or loans for enhancing credit functions, including new technologies and resources necessary for high-level performance.

Provides, follows up, and communicates verbal instructions, offering and receiving feedback in a respectful business manner.

Skilled in conflict management, adaptability, problem-solving, multitasking, influencing others, creativity, and self-initiation.

Assists other Association personnel in completing coordinated projects as assigned.

Participates in the preparation of industry/sector analyses as directed by the collateral audit manager.

Conducts or participates in collateral audits for multi-bank loan syndications or participations.

Develops memos and related presentations for loan committees and senior management.

Ensures compliance with applicable laws, Farm Credit regulations, and Association policies in all areas of involvement.

Assists Relationship Managers and Credit Analysts in managing and monitoring existing or new loans by providing input on credit structure, terms, and conditions as directed by the Department Manager.


OTHER DUTIES:
Utilizes various insurance company and government websites to gather general information and monitor progress regarding specific policies.

Engages in collaborative decision-making while also making independent decisions regarding the implementation of insurance rules and the development of internal processes.

Provides training support as needed.


PREFERRED SKILLS:
Excellent interpersonal relations, administrative, research (including Internet), and communication skills are essential.

Strong analytical skills to uphold sound collateral audit standards, assess a borrower's risk management program (including hedging, insurance coverage, and operational practices), and evaluate and structure loan proposals.

Some knowledge of business and legal practices in mortgage and commercial/operating lending, including credit standards and real estate and equipment appraisal requirements, is required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office software is necessary.

Ability to effectively coordinate input from multiple sources to complete assignments.
