Job Summary

Green Brick Partners is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Leader to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the accounting department and ensuring the company's financial and operational success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the accounting department and ensure the company's financial and operational success
  • Develop and implement internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accounting principles
  • Manage monthly and quarterly reporting packages to provide timely and reliable financial and operational information
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures to improve efficiency and ensure successful adaptation to changing internal and external environments
Accounting and Financial Leadership
  • Leadership and supervision of the Accounting Department to motivate, develop, and retain quality staff members
  • Development and documentation of business processes and accounting policies
  • Establishment and execution of internal controls over the company's accounting and financial procedures
  • Evaluation of financial and operational controls to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial reporting
  • Support of month-end and year-end close processes, including documentation and regulatory compliance
  • Issuance of financial reports to meet the needs of internal users and the company
  • Implementation of current technology solutions to improve efficiency of accounting operations and financial reporting
  • Liaison between the company and external auditors, including delegation of responsibilities and responses to potential deficiencies
  • Management of the quarterly and annual budgeting process
  • Monitoring of performance to proactively identify efficiency issues and propose solutions
  • Maintenance of a working knowledge of all phases of operations
  • Coordination of support to operations throughout the business
  • Provision of regular performance updates to the senior leadership team
Supervision of Others

Accounting and Finance team members

Authority/Budget/Decision Making/Discretion and Independent Judgment Ability

Required to develop management reporting tools and manage the Accounting department, budget, and staff

Qualifications
  • BS in Accounting, Finance, or Management
  • CPA or MBA
  • Experience working in accounting and/or finance function for 5+ years
  • Prior supervision of staff of 5+
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards and accounting principles
  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software, and databases
  • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
  • Experience creating and maintaining financial statements
  • Familiarity with general ledger functions and necessary month-end/year-end closing processes and procedures
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and management, other departments, and those outside the company
  • Strong ability to adapt to changing circumstances and develop solutions to new and unique problems/challenges
  • Ability to train and develop employees with respect to technical skills and interpersonal/soft skills
  • Proven strategic planning and budgeting experience
  • Demonstrated experience setting, monitoring, and meeting quarterly and annual goals
  • Experience building and scaling teams and systems
  • Problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day
