The Commonwealth of Virginia is looking for a Lead Financial Operations Analyst to join our dedicated team.

The Lead Financial Operations Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting various departments within our organization. This position is responsible for managing fiscal operations, including procurement processes, vendor relations, and financial record-keeping. Key responsibilities include utilizing financial systems for transactions, managing travel authorizations and reimbursements, and ensuring accurate reconciliation of multiple funding sources. Effective communication is essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
Act as the primary liaison between procurement offices and vendors, ensuring timely processing of all financial transactions.
Serve as the main point of contact for inquiries related to financial operations, delivering exceptional customer service to internal stakeholders.
Generate purchase requisitions and communicate purchase order details to relevant team members and vendors.
Oversee the management of memberships and subscription payments for the division.
Handle check deposits and manage purchasing card transactions.
Facilitate the removal of encumbrances for purchase orders and travel requests.
Execute expense transfers and internal charges using financial management systems.
Lead compliance testing for internal control standards.
Provide training and support for departmental purchasers.
Conduct daily purchasing activities and ensure adherence to fiscal policies.
Offer guidance on financial transaction systems.
Maintain and inventory fixed assets annually.
Commit to risk assessment and management practices.
Perform monthly reconciliations and collaborate with leadership for approval.
Execute necessary journal entries to ensure proper funding of operations.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Proven experience in an administrative support role with a focus on financial operations.
Familiarity with accounts payable processes, corporate purchasing cards, and travel reimbursements.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.
Ability to solve problems independently using sound judgment.
Experience working collaboratively in a diverse organizational environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Capacity to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to fostering a diverse workplace.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in accounting, including financial reporting and budget management.
Knowledge of state and university procurement policies.
Familiarity with financial management systems.
Experience in a higher education setting.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Suite.
