Key Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to our projects supporting Intelligence Community and Department of Defense clients. This role involves working with advanced service and distributed computing technologies for satellite situational awareness (SSA) data processing and dissemination.

The EMMETT initiative, a cutting-edge Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Indications and Warning (I&W) system, creates a database of resident space objects (RSOs), identifies RSOs of interest, and supplies data to ground operators. The EMMETT team leverages programmatic, sensor modeling, and systems engineering expertise to deliver this premier SDA I&W system.

Primary Duties:
  • Conduct TS/SCI Java software development for various modules, utilizing techniques such as event-driven programming, error logging, and exception management.
  • Engage in TS/SCI software analysis, architecture, engineering, and integration services across unit, module, and system levels.
  • Oversee all facets of software engineering support necessary for system implementation.
  • Comply with open standards and contemporary software development practices, adhering to industry best practices where operational requirements permit.
  • Generate technical reports, white papers, and other documentation to capture findings from all software engineering activities.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience; OR a Master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • This position mandates the candidate to hold a minimum of Top Secret clearance with the capability to upgrade to TS/SCI and pass a polygraph as required.
  • Proficiency in Java (Model, Entity, Data Transfer Object (DTO), Data Access (DAO)).
  • Experience in software design and development with cloud architecture, including containerization (Docker).
  • Familiarity with Unix-based operating systems, particularly RedHat Enterprise Linux.
  • Experience with the Spring framework.
  • Knowledge of JUnit test creation, Remote Debugging (JDWP), and Spring Framework - MapStruct Annotations.
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and REDIS.
  • Competence in Linux distributions and command-line navigation.
  • Familiarity with messaging systems like ActiveMQ and Camel Route.
  • Understanding of web application fundamentals including HTTP, HTML, REST, WebSocket, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and Gerrit/GIT.
  • Active CompTIA Security+ CE certification or in progress.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient in at least one scripting language such as Python or Perl.
  • Knowledge of web server configuration on NGINX, Apache, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with Bootstrap and Less.
  • Experience with Microservices, Containerization, and Kubernetes using Spring Boot.
  • Experience as a developer using AWS.
  • Familiarity with build/deploy tools such as Jenkins and Ansible.
  • Experience collaborating with external developers and integrating their components into larger frameworks.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Background in physics, mathematics, or aerospace.
