About the Role

At Raytheon Careers, we are seeking a highly skilled Principal Satellite Ground Systems Software Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Satellite Ground Systems Team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and testing Java code in a Linux, Agile, DevOps environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design, implement, and test Java-based applications and software components for satellite ground systems.
  • Systems Engineering: Work in a systems Model Based Systems Engineering Architecture (MBSE) role.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and specifications.
  • Code Maintenance: Work with previously written code and make modifications as necessary.
  • Software Performance: Ensure software performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Reviews and Integration: Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, and system integration activities.
  • Project Milestones: Contribute to the completion of program and project milestones under the specific guidance of their immediate supervisor.
  • Software Processes: Follow established Software processes and procedures, development, documentation and maintenance/management of operations concepts, requirements (system, element, segment level), external and internal interfaces, and other software engineering work products/artifacts.

Qualifications
  • Education: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience: Experience with satellite ground systems.
  • Agile Development: Agile software development experience using Java in both Windows and Linux.
  • Cyber Security: Cyber Security experience.
  • Security Clearance: Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: 9+ years of Satellite Ground Systems experience within the GPS OCX enterprise.
  • Software Architecture: Software architecture and algorithm development experience.
  • Automated Test Tools: Experience with software automated test tools such as Eggplant (or equivalent).
  • Advanced Java Development: Advanced Java Software development experience
  • External Interface Development: Experience working external interface development and integration efforts, algorithm design, display designs, and working both front end and back end software products.
  • Cameo Enterprise: Experience using Cameo Enterprise for large scale programs.
  • Atlassian Tool Suite: Experience using the Atlassian tool suite.
  • Software Development Leadership: Software development technical leadership experience.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Superb interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Software Frameworks: Knowledge of inter-software messaging busses and software frameworks.
