Position Overview
Tecolote Research is on the lookout for a skilled Financial Cost Specialist to become a vital part of our National Capital Programs Group.

This is a full-time, onsite role that necessitates a Top-Secret Security Clearance with the potential to achieve SCI eligibility.

The anticipated salary range is between $70,000 and $130,000, influenced by various factors such as total years of relevant experience, academic qualifications, and pertinent professional certifications.

Key Responsibilities


As a Financial Cost Specialist, your role will involve supporting the U.S. Navy across a range of essential programs by:

  • Developing precise cost estimates and models.
  • Conducting thorough cost analyses.
  • Evaluating vendor proposals to facilitate contract negotiations and awards.

You will be tasked with analyzing and integrating extensive datasets from diverse sources to create well-documented and justifiable estimates.

The cost models you design and utilize will assist in various supplementary efforts, including What-If analyses, Business Case Analyses, and budget requests.

Your analyses and recommendations will empower senior leadership to make critical strategic decisions.


Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Top-Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain SCI eligibility.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in cost estimating or financial/business case analysis.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard EVM analysis tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, ACEIT).
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, or a STEM field.
  • Willingness to work full-time onsite in a classified environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting DoD Program Offices.
  • Experience in a classified environment.
  • Knowledge of FAR/DFAR and GAO/DoD Cost Estimating Guides.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • International Cost Estimating and Analysis (ICEAA) Certification.
  • Advanced Degree (e.g., MBA).

Education Requirements
A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in mathematics, engineering, business, or the sciences.
