Payroll Specialist - Compensation Expert

Sooner Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist - Compensation Expert to play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee payments. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for managing payroll functions using ADP Workforce Now and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and execute bi-weekly, multi-state payroll using ADP Workforce Now for all employees, ensuring accurate and timely payments.
  • Administer wage garnishments, tax levies, and other court-ordered payments, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Partner with Human Resources to manage paid and unpaid leaves, salary adjustments, classification changes, and updates to employee deductions.
  • Review and reconcile timesheets and payroll data for both field and office staff, implement pay and benefit rate adjustments, and address any discrepancies.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies or issues and employee queries regarding pay.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure payroll accuracy and generate reports for management, finance, or external auditors.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll-related regulations and ensure compliance with company policies, as well as federal, state, and local payroll laws.
  • Assist with administrative HR requests such as employment verifications, unemployment claims, etc.
  • Assist in developing projected salary, benefits, and tax budgets, providing accurate figures for financial planning.
  • Assist in month-end close.
  • Prepare OSHA work hours.
  • Assist with HR projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, HR, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of payroll processing experience, preferably using ADP Workforce Now.
  • Strong understanding of payroll practices, tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and compliance.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
