Brisbane, California, United States Heirloom Carbon Full time
About Us

Across the globe, from the serene waters of Turkey and Oman to the stunning terraces of Yellowstone, our planet naturally captures carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and transforms it into stone. For ages, Earth has depended on this process to maintain its carbon balance. What if we could harness this ability? What if we could accelerate it, scale it up, and reduce costs to make it a viable solution in combating climate change?

At Heirloom, we are making this vision a reality. We utilize the inherent carbon capture capabilities of plentiful minerals to extract CO2 from the air and securely store it underground. Every day, we strive to combat climate change, united by a singular goal - to eliminate 1 billion tons of CO2 from the atmosphere by 2035, and we will not cease until we achieve this.

We combine the precise blend of science, technology, expertise, and strategy required to make affordable, high-quality carbon removal a reality. If we succeed, we will directly address climate change, create a world we can proudly pass on to future generations, and spark an industry that will rival the largest ever seen. If you aspire to make a difference in the world, we welcome you to join us.

Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

As global temperatures rise, marginalized communities will bear the brunt of climate change's effects. We firmly believe that cultivating a diverse workforce is essential to Heirloom's success. To achieve this, we prioritize recruiting, hiring, and retaining individuals from underrepresented groups.

We encourage applications from individuals who identify as Black, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, American Indian or Alaskan Native, Hispanic or Latino, LGBTQ+, or any other underrepresented group, even if you do not meet all the criteria outlined below.
About the Role

Are you prepared to tackle a challenge that merges innovative technology with strategic leadership? Heirloom is seeking a proactive Technical Program Manager to lead the implementation of our advanced R&D thermal decomposition systems and propel our technology initiatives forward. This position offers a unique opportunity to manage a high-impact project from conception to completion, ensuring the effective integration of site enhancements, requirement specifications, and project execution.

In this crucial role, you will apply your expertise in overseeing complex, multi-disciplinary projects to manage every facet of the calciner deployment. Your duties will encompass collaborating with external partners on essential tasks such as permitting, construction, engineering design, procurement, and commissioning. You will work closely with our technology teams to refine project specifications, detail intricate and iterative designs, maintain a strict timeline, and address challenges as they arise, all while keeping the broader strategic vision in focus.

Key responsibilities include developing and sustaining comprehensive project and program timelines, managing internal technology team scope and cost assessments, and fostering relationships with external partners, contractors, and suppliers. You will facilitate the transition from experimental insights to scalable, deployable solutions, ensuring a seamless handover to deployment teams.

In addition to project oversight, you will collaborate with our strategy team to identify optimization opportunities and work with R&D teams—engineering, process development, and research science—to align technological advancements with company objectives. You will also provide strategic guidance to project leads throughout the technical development, construction, commissioning, and deployment phases, ensuring alignment with our overall technology program and deployment targets.

What You Will Bring

Your organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and outstanding project management abilities will be vital in driving the project to success. Experience managing pilot or industrial processes, along with a willingness to learn and adapt, will distinguish you. Creativity, a collaborative mindset, and a background in technology development are highly regarded.

Ideal candidates will possess a degree in Engineering or Construction Management, coupled with substantial experience in project management, particularly in construction, technology, or R&D projects. Familiarity with agile tools such as Jira and expertise in budgeting and scheduling are essential. Strong decision-making capabilities and the ability to transform complex challenges into manageable, actionable workflows will be crucial to your success.

If you are ready to lead transformative projects and make a significant impact in a forward-thinking environment, we invite you to explore this exciting opportunity.
