Job Summary

Boston Properties is seeking a highly skilled Building Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our commercial office buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Oversee the installation, fabrication, and repair of complex mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Receive and complete work assignments, ensuring timely completion and accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to troubleshoot building systems and resolve issues.
  • Monitor contractors and inspect work to ensure quality and compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 coverage and respond to after-hours emergencies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in building maintenance or a related field, with knowledge of commercial office building systems.
  • Comprehensive training and certification in HVAC and other technologies, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with ability to interact with tenants and colleagues.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record, with ability to operate company vehicles.
  • Applicable licenses and certifications, such as DC 3rd Class Steam Engineer's License or NIULPE 1st Class Engineer's Certificate.
Working Conditions

This is an on-site position requiring regular presence at our commercial office buildings. The successful candidate will be required to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in environments with temperature extremes.
