About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Apprentice Engineer to join our team at Hines. As a key member of our facilities team, you will assist in the operation and maintenance of various building systems and equipment, ensuring the smooth functioning of our properties.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in performing preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Make adjustments and changes to HVAC and related equipment to maintain established operating criteria.
  • Perform general repairs, maintenance, and replacement of building components, including fixtures and appliances.
  • Participate in water treatment chemical programs and maintain operation logs and files.
  • Apply basic knowledge and skills in HVAC distribution and controls to resolve work orders.
  • Provide prompt and courteous response to tenant requests and maintain ethical, professional, and courteous relations with contractors and tenants.
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with the operation staff and perform as a team member.
  • Participate in required training activities and seminars and adhere to all Hines and property policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • One or more years of related experience preferred.
  • Related trade certifications preferred.
  • Continually develop building engineering and related knowledge.
  • Interact with employees, visitors, and contractors with poise and diplomacy.
  • Develop sufficient computer skills to effectively administer required engineering programs.
  • Read and understand a variety of instructions, including equipment instruction manuals.
  • Understand correct usage of power tools and maintain calm demeanor in emergency situations.
  • Understand and apply correct usage of all personal safety equipment.
