Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Family Development Specialist to empower families and guide them towards self-sufficiency. This role involves collaborating closely with families, assisting them in setting achievable goals, developing action plans, and accessing essential resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to the FaDSS program Code of Ethics.
  • Act as a Mandatory Reporter, promptly reporting suspected cases of adult or child abuse according to established guidelines.
  • Recruit clients, manage a full caseload, and ensure client files meet FaDSS standards.
  • Prepare professional correspondence and utilize computer skills extensively for documentation and communication.
  • Conduct in-home or virtual meetings with participants to establish service intensity, monitor progress, and develop tailored action plans.
  • Engage with family members individually and as a group to provide comprehensive support.
  • Conduct thorough family assessments and screenings as needed.
  • Collaborate with families to set short-term and long-term goals that promote self-sufficiency.
  • Refer families to appropriate agencies, organizations, and services, offering accompaniment when necessary.
  • Coordinate with other service providers to ensure a holistic approach to family support.
  • Assess and monitor the overall health status of families.
  • Encourage family involvement in community and school activities.
  • Foster positive working relationships with Community Action Neighborhood Center staff.
  • Demonstrate initiative, motivation, organization, dependability, and a willingness to embrace challenges.
  • Possess a strong understanding of local resources and available support systems.
  • Maintain regular client visits and other job responsibilities, requiring reliable transportation.
  • Showcase experience or knowledge in public speaking, group facilitation, and organizational engagement.
  • Uphold professional behavior and adhere to the established dress code.
Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with families and providing support services.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • A commitment to empowering families and promoting self-sufficiency.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
