Residential Support Specialist

SERV Behavioral Health System, a prominent provider in the field of behavioral health in New Jersey, is dedicated to assisting individuals with mental health challenges and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities in attaining increased autonomy and enhanced quality of life through a comprehensive array of services.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Residential Support Specialist – I/DD is responsible for delivering therapeutic residential assistance to adult clients with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. The ideal candidate will aid in daily living tasks and offer behavioral guidance, medication oversight, and crisis management within a group home environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and personal care requirements
- Provides direct oversight in a group home setting
- Supports the upkeep and maintenance of the group home alongside resident clients
- Plans, leads, and facilitates client activities
- Delivers consistent positive behavioral support
- Contributes to assessments, meetings, and treatment planning
- Organizes and oversees recreational and social engagements
- Collects and documents data, ensuring all required paperwork is completed
- Adheres to policies and procedures regarding medication monitoring
- Intervenes effectively to prevent or manage crisis situations with clients
- Provides transportation as necessary and accompanies clients to appointments
- Ensures a safe and therapeutic environment, complying with all safety standards, federal and state regulations, and corporate policies
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent with at least one (1) year of relevant work or life experience, OR
- High school diploma or equivalent with Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (CHHA), OR
- Bachelor's degree in any human services field (psychology, sociology, special education, etc.) from an accredited institution
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license with a clean driving record
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated respect for individuals with I/DD and their families
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
