Position Overview

As an Event Planning Specialist at Michaels, you will be responsible for orchestrating and managing various events, including children's birthday celebrations, within our retail environment. Your role is to ensure a seamless, enjoyable, and engaging experience for our customers.

Event Coordination Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning and execution of multiple events simultaneously, including crafting workshops and other creative gatherings.
  • Foster engaging interactions with customers of all ages, creating a vibrant and imaginative atmosphere.
  • Demonstrate crafting projects and provide guidance to participants, including face painting and leading other fun activities.
  • Prepare and organize event materials such as party favors and decorations in accordance with company standards.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and in-store team members about upcoming events.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including responding to inquiries and completing necessary documentation.
  • Adapt event plans based on customer feedback and needs.
  • Develop contingency plans to ensure smooth event execution.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction during scheduled events.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards before, during, and after each event.

Customer Service Excellence

  • Assist customers in locating products and provide tailored solutions to enhance their shopping experience.
  • Deliver prompt and friendly service at the checkout.
  • Educate customers about the benefits of loyalty programs and assist with registrations.
  • Inform customers about customer feedback initiatives.
  • Support omnichannel processes, including online orders and in-store pickups.
  • Participate in the unloading of deliveries and merchandising tasks.
  • Manage inventory and ensure proper product placement.
  • Engage in loss prevention and safety programs.
  • Adhere to operational procedures and company policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and standards.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful demeanor in all interactions, promoting the company's vision and values.
  • Receive training in sales and production within custom framing.
  • Contribute to daily store cleanliness, including sweeping, vacuuming, and maintaining restroom hygiene.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Strong organizational skills and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Prior retail or customer service experience is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capable of moving throughout the store.
  • Frequent bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
  • Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using ladders or similar equipment.

Work Environment

  • Retail environment focused on customer service; public areas are climate-controlled, while some warehouse areas may not be.
  • Outdoor tasks may be assigned, such as collecting shopping carts or unloading deliveries.
  • The framing workshop includes glass-cutting machinery and heat presses.
  • Work hours may include evenings, weekends, and early mornings.
