About the Position

The Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a highly skilled Chief Data Officer to lead the development, implementation, and execution of the Departmental data strategy. This individual will provide executive leadership in leveraging the power of data to drive operational and mission effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish the strategic direction for building the Department's data management program and optimizing how the enterprise uses data both internally and externally.
  • Determine goals and objectives that need additional emphasis and provide the Department with vision for business-wide data activities.
  • Champion data ownership, standardization, accessibility, and governance, and play a leading strategic role in defining and overseeing how the Department captures, maintains, and applies data and information to support key business processes and goals.
  • Provide leadership, overall direction, and expert guidance to officials at all levels in HHS in the transition to a data-driven culture.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in areas such as policy formulation and implementation, IT, records management, and change and program management. They will also possess a strong understanding of data governance and management principles, as well as the ability to rapidly adapt and respond to changing technology advances.

The selected candidate will be required to complete an Executive Core Qualifications (ECQ) package and be certified by an OPM Qualifications Review Board (QRB) in order to be placed in this position.
