Job Overview

Salary Range: $130,000 - $145,000

Note: Candidates must reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Position Summary

The Chief Financial Officer will possess comprehensive expertise in financial oversight, encompassing everything from fundamental accounting practices to extensive investment and banking operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, as they will oversee all relevant departments within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the following tasks may be included, but are not limited to:

  1. Lead the financial planning initiatives of the organization.
  2. Conduct risk assessments by evaluating the organization’s liabilities and investment portfolios.
  3. Formulate investment strategies while considering liquidity and cash flow risks.
  4. Oversee and assess the organization’s fundraising strategies and capital framework.
  5. Ensure adequate cash flow to support the organization’s operational needs.
  6. Supervise all finance-related personnel.
  7. Manage relationships with vendors.
  8. Prepare accurate current and predictive financial reports.
  9. Establish and manage the organization’s financial IT systems.
  10. Guarantee compliance with legal regulations and organizational policies.
General Expectations

Employees are expected to perform their assigned duties efficiently and competently, striving for continuous improvement and excellence in all tasks. Additionally, employees should understand the integral role of the community college and collaborate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the public. Compliance with all college policies, rules, regulations, and guidelines related to this position is mandatory.

Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years in accounting or finance-related roles. CPA certification or progress towards it is preferred.

Skills:

  • Proven experience as a CFO or in a similar financial leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate financial legislation and risk management strategies.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis and forecasting techniques.
  • Expertise in MS Office and financial management software.
  • Ability to strategize effectively and resolve complex issues.
  • Strong leadership and organizational capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment

The role is primarily conducted under general supervision in an office environment with appropriate climate control. Occasional travel and flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, may be required.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to lift, manual dexterity, and effective communication skills. It is primarily sedentary work, involving sitting for extended periods, with occasional walking and standing.
