Administrative Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Administrative Associate to join our team at Danbury Hospital. As a key member of our Endocrinology department, you will provide exceptional customer service to patients while facilitating patient flow. Your administrative support will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of our daily activities.
Responsibilities- Provide a warm and welcoming experience for patients and customers, answering phones in a timely and professional manner and prioritizing calls accordingly.
- Perform patient registration, scheduling, and financial clearance with accuracy and efficiency.
- Communicate with insurance companies to verify benefits and coverage, ensuring proper billing and authorization.
- Assist with a wide range of secretarial tasks, including answering phones, routing mail, record keeping, and written and verbal communication.
- Maintain department inventory and supplies, ensuring a well-stocked and organized workspace.
- Process payments at point of service according to established guidelines.
- Create and maintain patient charts, including required documentation, and scan documents into the medical record.
- Process medical records requests from various sources, including Health Information Management, third-party payers, attorneys, patients, and caregivers.
- Under the direction of the Director or Coordinator, arrange for maintenance and repair of the office space.
- Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Maintain and model Nuvance Health Values.
- Perform other duties as required.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication, and organizational skills.
- Requires 3+ years of experience providing administrative support.
- CPR Certification will be provided by the department.
- Excellent customer service skills, pleasant, professional, and articulate phone voice.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Experience with medical terminology and previous experience in a medical office setting.
- Associate's Degree preferred.
This position requires significant manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity. The working environment is generally pleasant, with little to no potential for occupational risk. The physical effort required is medium to heavy, with the ability to exert up to 35 pounds of force.
