Position Overview:

The leader of the Planning Department will take charge of the planning team, focusing on the development and execution of processes and production strategies that meet customer needs, delivery schedules, inventory goals, and manufacturing efficiency standards. This role includes both the management of the department and the strategic oversight required to facilitate production and demand planning.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Production Strategy: Direct the formulation and implementation of both immediate and long-term production strategies to guarantee timely material availability and adherence to established timelines.
  • Master Schedule Oversight: Develop and assess a comprehensive monthly Master Schedule to meet customer demands while minimizing overlaps and testing whenever possible.
  • ERP/MRP Enhancement: Refine SAP/MRP parameters to effectively support existing planning methodologies.
  • Inventory Management: Lead inventory management initiatives by creating and overseeing material and production plans aimed at reducing inventory levels. Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory analysis, executing actions to achieve targets across all inventory categories.
  • Client Relationship Management: Foster and maintain robust relationships with both internal and external clients to promote ongoing improvements in the Global Planning process across all regions.
  • Forecasting and Production Alignment: Collaborate with Account Managers, Product Managers, and Customer Service Representatives to evaluate forecasts and usage data, taking necessary steps to align production plans.
  • Capacity Assessment: Guide Operations in planning for both current and future capacity needs.
  • Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP): Supervise the preparation and presentation of Sales & Operations Planning activities.
  • Department Leadership: Oversee and direct the Planning department, including setting objectives, promoting professional growth, and managing performance evaluations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Operations Management, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 8-10 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with ERP systems, MRP, and inventory management. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint, for data analysis and reporting.
  • Analytical Expertise: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Forecasting and Planning Experience: Background in demand forecasting and capacity planning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: APICS certification.
  • Systems Knowledge: Experience with SAP.
  • Project Management Skills: Proven project management capabilities and familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strategic Planning Skills: Demonstrated ability to create and implement strategic plans.
  • Lean Manufacturing Knowledge: Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and practices.
