POSITION OBJECTIVE: The role of the Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer serves as a technical intermediary among procurement, engineering, production, operations, and suppliers. This position is responsible for resolving technical and quality challenges, executing and overseeing advanced quality planning processes, and offering technical assistance for manufacturing process validation to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards. A broad understanding of quality engineering principles and practices is essential to devise and coordinate solutions for intricate issues, requiring significant creativity and initiative.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Engage in the supplier selection process, evaluating potential suppliers to establish a reliable supplier network.

2. Participate in new business allocation and conduct supplier feasibility assessments, documenting unique characteristics and future quality expectations, including early production containment.

3. Implement and oversee advanced quality planning processes with chosen suppliers for new projects, ensuring timely supplier APQP progress and PPAP approval in collaboration with engineering and procurement.

4. Ensure suppliers comprehend product specifications and submission criteria.

5. Assess suppliers' manufacturing methodologies and quality management systems.

6. Guarantee that products meet drawing tolerances, engineering specifications, and quality standards in collaboration with selected suppliers.

7. Act as a liaison among procurement, engineering, production, operations, and suppliers to address quality and technical issues while providing necessary technical support.

8. Establish metrics, objectives, and regular evaluations of supplier performance, enhancing quality outcomes through workshops at supplier sites and offering technical guidance in developing quality systems.

9. Maintain essential documentation and records.

10. Identify critical characteristics from product designs and apply necessary process controls at the supplier level.

11. Review manufacturing fixture concepts to ensure alignment with GD&T part designs.

12. Conduct cost recovery initiatives with suppliers.

13. Support the incoming materials department.

14. Apply Controlled Shipping procedures as necessary.

15. Coordinate supplier quality and product audits to enhance the performance of underperforming suppliers.

16. Investigate the root causes of supplier quality issues and implement effective resolutions through structured problem-solving methodologies.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE:

Proficient knowledge of automotive industry standards and launch protocols, including AIAG Core tools (APQP, PPAP, MSA, PFMEA, SPC) and IATF standards.

Highly skilled in interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T, with a solid foundation in statistical quality control techniques.

Demonstrated ability to analyze complex quality issues and apply effective problem-solving strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational Background:

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required, with a preference for Mechanical or Mechatronic disciplines.

Experience:

A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, quality assurance, or engineering roles is essential.

Hands-on experience in manufacturing processes, with a comprehensive understanding of assembly plant operations and equipment.

Experience with casting, forging, machining, electrical components, and heat-treated products is highly desirable.

Familiarity with transmission components and related manufacturing processes is preferred.
