Role Overview:

The Quality Assurance Engineer for Suppliers plays a critical role in overseeing the Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) process for complete seating programs. This position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and sub-tier suppliers to ensure quality standards are met throughout the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate customer specifications into Supplier AQP requirements.
  • Engage with the supply base to communicate quality expectations and timelines.
  • Organize Supplier AQP meetings to address issues identified during document reviews.
  • Conduct Supplier visits to assess AQP progress and readiness for launch.
  • Maintain a status matrix for each Supplier and report findings to the program team.
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of prototype requirements to Suppliers.
  • Evaluate incoming materials and documentation from Suppliers for compliance with specifications.
  • Utilize a chargeback database to manage incoming prototype issues.
  • Request and follow up on corrective actions from Suppliers related to prototype challenges.
  • Participate in reviews of Special Characteristics Agreements with Suppliers.
  • Analyze Supplier DVP&R test results for compliance.
  • Provide pre-production documentation for received components.
  • Review and approve production PPAP packages.
  • Facilitate Supplier visits for initial and ongoing Engineering Change PPAP reviews.
  • Conduct Appearance Approval Reviews, documenting and tracking open issues.
  • Support TASP initiation, distribution, and closure processes.
  • Assist the Division in verifying and resolving Supplier corrective action issues.
  • Maintain comprehensive supplier quality records and ensure timely execution of tasks.
  • Utilize e-business tools for effective communication with program teams and clients.
  • Apply academic principles and stay informed about PPAP, AQP, GD&T, and statistical tools.
  • Employ supplier auditing techniques to evaluate potential Suppliers.
  • Support internal and external audit efforts for ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 Certification.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures for Quality Management Systems.
  • Promote workplace health and safety by ensuring compliance with established objectives and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of three years of diverse engineering and/or quality experience with increasing responsibilities, including supplier auditing and problem-solving.
  • Proficient knowledge of statistical methods and production quality systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to track improvement processes through performance metrics.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical presentations.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks under changing deadlines.
  • Proven independent problem-solving abilities and effective presentation skills.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
