The Red Cross supports various cultural and community resource groups for employees and volunteers, including the Ability Network, Asian American & Pacific Islander Resource Group, Latino Resource Group, Red Cross PRIDE, Umoja African American Resource Group, Veterans+ Resource Group, and Women's Resource Group. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the receipt, processing, packaging, and distribution of blood products/samples for hospital orders.
- Triage orders based on urgency and ensure safe transport of life-saving blood products.
- Communicate effectively with hospital clients, volunteers, and vendors while maintaining accurate product records for traceability.
- Ensure products/samples meet quality standards for release and adhere to production goals.
- Implement effective inventory management practices throughout the manufacturing and shipping processes.
- Prioritize tasks to meet production and customer demands.
- Conduct data entry related to manufacturing, labeling, storage, ordering, and shipping; maintain accurate physical and electronic records.
- Analyze visual inspections and information from other departments to meet time and quality standards.
- Identify and quarantine products/samples that do not meet quality requirements and manage the disposition of unacceptable products.
- May be assigned to make hospital deliveries as needed.
The responsibilities outlined above describe the general nature and level of work and are not an exhaustive list.
WORK SCHEDULE: Variable schedule, primarily during the third shift, with occasional second shift rotations on weekends.
COMPENSATION: $20.60 per hour, with potential shift differentials for late-night, overnight, and weekend work.
Note that salaries at the American Red Cross are aligned with the geographic location of the work performed. Other factors influencing your salary may include specific skills, years of experience, and comparisons to other employees in similar roles.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of experience in a regulatory, distribution, or manufacturing environment is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong computer skills, attention to detail, accurate documentation, and sound decision-making abilities.
- A valid driver's license may be required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- An Associate's degree in a science-related field is advantageous.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position requires standing, stretching, stooping, and bending for extended periods. Ability to lift, pull, push, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. May involve working in walk-in refrigerator/freezers for certain durations and wearing protective clothing such as lab coats, gloves, and face shields.
