Department Overview

The Capital Accounting team is essential in guaranteeing the precision of PG&E's financial records associated with Plant, Accumulated Depreciation, Construction Work in Progress, Asset Acquisitions, Sales, Retirements, Nuclear Decommissioning accounting, and Asset Retirement Obligations. This team collaborates with various stakeholders across PG&E to uphold effective oversight and comprehension of the Company's capital expenditures and related business processes. The department's work is vital to the Company and presents challenges and variety, including the application of suitable accounting treatments and analyses under GAAP, FERC, Tax, and SEC reporting for transactions related to capital assets at PG&E.

Position Summary

We are looking for a highly competent and driven Financial Accounting Specialist to join a prominent accounting department. This role offers an excellent opportunity to showcase your analytical and communication abilities. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented and self-motivated, possessing outstanding oral and written communication skills, including the capacity to present accounting conclusions clearly and persuasively.

This position operates in a hybrid model, allowing work from a remote office and on-site as needed.

PG&E is providing a salary range that reflects the company's good faith belief regarding compensation for this position at the time of posting. This range is specific to the job's locality. The actual salary offered will depend on various factors, including specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This role is also eligible for PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs. While we estimate that the successful candidate will be positioned towards the middle or entry point of the range, decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $73,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $109,000.00

Job Responsibilities

  • Engage in the daily operations of the Accounting team to ensure that monthly tasks are completed by the designated deadlines.
  • Execute monthly accounting journal entries, account reconciliations, monthly rollforward schedules, and related variance analyses.
  • Liaise with relevant internal and external business partners to understand and resolve reconciling items.
  • Assist in preparing supporting documentation for SEC, tax, and regulatory filings. Conduct monthly SOX control reviews of capital orders.
  • Ensure proper internal controls and review all areas of responsibility to verify compliance with accounting policies.
  • Undertake special projects as requested by the supervisor and manager.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BA/BS in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 2 years of recent relevant accounting experience

Desired:

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC, and FERC requirements
  • Familiarity with SAP Asset Management (AM) module
  • Knowledge of PowerPlan software
  • Understanding of Utility ratemaking
  • Experience in Public Accounting
  • Proficiency in computer skills (Excel/Word/PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of financial analysis and internal controls
  • CPA or equivalent required or substantially complete
