Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Protection and Control Systems Engineer to join our team at LaBella Associates. As a key member of our Building Engineering Division, you will be responsible for designing and implementing protection and control systems for commercial, industrial, and renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop protection and control systems for electrical transmission and distribution substations, including relay settings, configuration files, and other supporting documentation.
  • Evaluate the interoperability, control features, and communication/protocol aspects of protective relays, RTUs, LTC Controllers, and other equipment.
  • Perform power system load flow studies, fault studies, and relay setting coordination.
  • Aid in commissioning as needed, including system startups and functional checks.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • At least 5 years of experience in protection and control system design, cost estimating, and bidding document preparation for electrical transmission and distribution substations projects.
  • PE license from a US State is desired but not required.
  • Successful track record designing protection and control systems.
  • Knowledge of IEEE, NERC, NEC, NESC, NEMA, and ANSI standards is critical.
  • Experience with telecommunications, protective relaying, and automation (SCADA) is required.
  • Interest in low voltage coordination and arc flash studies.
  • Familiarity with Schweitzer Engineering, General Electric, and Basler equipment.
