Job Title: Fly Away Kit (FAK) Specialist

Reports To: Senior Manager, AOG & Line Materials

FLSA Status: Exempt

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain precise records of all Fly Away Kits, ensuring up-to-date information on contents, expiration dates, and storage locations. Conduct regular inventory audits to confirm adequate stock levels and address any discrepancies.
  • Oversee the assembly and packing of FAKs in accordance with established protocols. Ensure that all essential tools, parts, and equipment are included to support maintenance tasks during flight layovers.
  • Perform comprehensive inspections of FAKs to confirm the integrity and functionality of items. Identify damaged or expired components and initiate necessary replacement or repair actions.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including Maintenance, Operations, and Procurement, to ensure timely delivery and retrieval of FAKs. Work with ground handling teams at different locations to guarantee the availability of kits upon aircraft arrival.
  • Maintain thorough documentation related to FAKs, including packing lists, maintenance records, and usage logs. Generate regular reports on inventory status, kit utilization, and any issues encountered during deployment.
  • Work closely with maintenance planners, flight dispatchers, and ground handling teams to prioritize the delivery and retrieval of FAKs based on aircraft types and scheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Be prepared to support unplanned maintenance events or AOG situations by mobilizing appropriate FAKs and resources swiftly to the affected aircraft location.
  • Adhere to aviation regulations, company policies, and safety protocols regarding the handling, storage, and transportation of FAKs. Ensure all kits are secured, labeled, and stored in compliance with hazardous materials regulations.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance FAK management processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs. Gather feedback from maintenance personnel to implement improvements in kit contents and deployment strategies.
  • Provide training and guidance to maintenance staff and ground personnel on the proper use and handling of FAKs. Offer technical assistance to resolve any issues encountered during kit deployment.
  • Maintain open communication with relevant departments to ensure alignment of FAK management activities with operational needs and strategic objectives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in aviation management, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in inventory management, logistics coordination, or a similar role within the aviation sector.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in managing inventory records.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of aviation regulations and safety standards is advantageous.

  • Flexibility to work nights, afternoons, and weekends as required.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions. Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more.
