Job Title: Fly Away Kit (FAK) Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure precise documentation of all Fly Away Kits, monitoring their components, shelf life, and storage locations. Regularly perform inventory checks to maintain adequate stock levels and identify any inconsistencies.
  • Oversee the preparation and packaging of FAKs in accordance with set standards and protocols. Confirm that all essential tools, parts, and equipment are included to facilitate maintenance and service operations during flight stops.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of FAKs to confirm the condition and operability of items. Detect any defective or outdated components and initiate the necessary replacement or repair actions.
  • Work collaboratively with various teams, including Maintenance, Operations, and Procurement, to ensure the prompt delivery and collection of FAKs. Liaise with ground handling personnel at different locations to guarantee the availability and readiness of kits upon aircraft arrival.
  • Maintain thorough records related to FAKs, such as packing lists, maintenance logs, and usage reports. Generate periodic updates on inventory status, kit usage, and any challenges faced during deployment.
  • Coordinate with maintenance planners, flight dispatchers, and ground handling teams to ensure timely delivery and retrieval of FAKs at various locations. Collaborate with relevant personnel to prioritize kits based on aircraft types, scheduled maintenance tasks, and operational needs.
  • Be prepared to support unexpected maintenance events or AOG (Aircraft on Ground) situations by swiftly mobilizing appropriate FAKs and resources to the affected aircraft location. Work with maintenance teams to facilitate rapid repairs and minimize flight disruptions.
  • Comply with aviation regulations, company policies, and safety protocols governing the handling, storage, and transportation of FAKs. Ensure that all kits are securely stored, labeled, and managed in accordance with hazardous materials regulations and industry best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance FAK management processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs. Gather feedback from maintenance personnel and other stakeholders to implement enhancements in kit contents, packaging, or deployment strategies.
  • Provide training and support to maintenance staff and ground personnel on the proper handling and usage of FAKs. Offer technical assistance and troubleshooting support to resolve any issues encountered during kit deployment or utilization.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with relevant departments, including Maintenance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality Assurance, to ensure alignment of FAK management activities with operational needs and strategic objectives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in aviation management, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in inventory management, logistics coordination, or a similar role within the aviation sector.
  • Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in managing inventory records and documentation.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with aviation regulations and safety standards is advantageous.

Work Environment:

  • Flexible hours are required as operations run 24/7, including nights, afternoons, and weekends.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods. Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds or more.
