Position Overview:

Are you dedicated to the advancement of sustainable energy solutions? As a Mechanical Engineer specializing in facility decarbonization, you will play a crucial role in the transition towards electrified mechanical systems in essential mission facilities. Your expertise in facility operations and maintenance will be invaluable in assessing life-cycle costs and developing innovative strategies for building decarbonization initiatives.

Your Role:

At Booz Allen Hamilton, you will collaborate with clients to design, upgrade, and optimize their facilities by integrating new mechanical systems and retrofitting existing ones. These enhancements are essential for improving the energy resilience of critical infrastructure. Your analyses will evaluate the financial implications and practicality of existing energy systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize your technical knowledge to analyze the operational sequences of current systems.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of the cost implications associated with transitioning to electrified heating and cooling systems.
  • Perform detailed evaluations of existing mechanical infrastructures and thermal load profiles to provide recommendations for efficient all-electric technologies.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and analysts to share insights and develop cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering or analysis within the energy sector.
  • Familiarity with electrical, heating, cooling, and water systems.
  • Experience in managing critical building systems and their design.
  • Knowledge of fuels management and mechanical systems for facility heating.
  • Proficiency in building automation, SCADA systems, and energy management controls.
  • Experience in operations, maintenance, and testing of energy systems.
  • Understanding of sustainability regulations and standards, particularly related to building electrification.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time.
  • Secret clearance and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Department of Defense facilities and processes.
  • Background in cost estimating and life-cycle assessments for mechanical systems.
  • Experience in evaluating energy conservation measures and conducting techno-economic analyses.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and geothermal technologies.
  • Knowledge of all-electric facility technologies for various applications.
  • Professional Engineering License or Engineering in Training (EIT) Certification.
