Imagine leveraging your engineering expertise to contribute to the advancement of energy efficiency and climate resilience within a prominent governmental organization. As an electrical engineer with a focus on energy system analysis, you will navigate the complexities of creating innovative solutions that seamlessly integrate with established electrical frameworks. This expertise is crucial for pinpointing weaknesses in the infrastructure that supports essential operations and for developing energy resilience strategies that enhance mission reliability while embracing carbon-neutral technologies.
Your Role:
Our division is dedicated to supporting a significant governmental agency in achieving operational readiness through energy resilience. This readiness encompasses not only the personnel who back critical operations but also the vehicles essential for strategic deployment. Transitioning from traditional fuel-powered vehicles to hybrid and electric alternatives is vital for meeting organizational objectives. The engineer we seek will specialize in identifying energy resilience deficiencies and will be responsible for proposing and executing energy initiatives that fulfill operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate energy vulnerabilities at military installations and recommend projects that address various aspects of energy and climate resilience, including electrical, mechanical, water, fuel, and communication systems.
- Explore opportunities for integrating renewable energy sources to enhance traditional generation methods.
- Contribute to the assessment, development, and enhancement of electrical systems, ensuring they meet rigorous operational standards.
- Engage in travel to various installations, with an expected travel commitment of 25-50%.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering applications.
- Proficiency in power systems design and engineering methodologies.
- Familiarity with energy infrastructure, including electrical transmission and distribution networks, microgrids, and renewable technologies such as solar, wind, and geothermal.
- Experience in developing and analyzing requirements for complex energy systems.
- Ability to provide constructive engineering insights for system development and optimization.
- Eligibility to obtain a security clearance.
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in evaluating the condition of energy infrastructure, including age, quality, and vulnerability assessments.
- Background in designing, constructing, or maintaining electrical equipment.
- Prior experience working with governmental entities.
- Knowledge of relevant standards such as NFPA 70, IEEE, UFC, and UFGS.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- EIT Certification.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes wellness programs, paid holidays, parental leave, and a generous retirement plan. Our commitment to professional development includes opportunities for upskilling, tuition reimbursement, and networking.
Work Environment:
Our culture emphasizes flexibility and collaboration, whether in-person or remote, ensuring that our employees can thrive in their roles.
