Position Overview:

Are you driven by the challenge of creating, implementing, and managing sustainable energy solutions? As a Mechanical Engineer with a focus on facility decarbonization, you will play a pivotal role in transitioning critical mission facilities towards all-electric systems. Your expertise in facility operations and maintenance will be essential in evaluating the life-cycle costs associated with innovative energy projects.

Your Role:

At Booz Allen Hamilton, you will collaborate with clients to design, upgrade, and optimize their facilities by integrating new mechanical systems and retrofitting existing ones. Your analytical skills will be crucial in assessing the financial implications and feasibility of enhancing energy resilience within defense infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of existing mechanical systems and their operational sequences.
  • Analyze the cost implications of transitioning to electrified heating and cooling systems.
  • Provide insights on potential cost savings through efficient all-electric technologies.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and analysts to share knowledge and strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering or analysis within the energy sector.
  • Proficient in managing electrical, heating, cooling, and water systems.
  • Familiarity with building design and critical systems management.
  • Experience with fuels management and mechanical systems for facility heating.
  • Knowledge of building automation and energy management systems.
  • Understanding of environmental regulations and energy efficiency standards.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time.
  • Secret clearance is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Department of Defense facilities and processes.
  • Background in cost estimating and life-cycle assessments for mechanical systems.
  • Experience in evaluating energy conservation measures.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy projects, including solar and wind technologies.
  • Professional Engineering License or Engineering in Training (EIT) Certification is a plus.
