Role Summary

The Fleet Operations Supervisor plays a pivotal role within Quality Carriers. This position is accountable for managing relationships with a designated group of drivers, ensuring a positive driver experience, and making recommendations to the Terminal Manager regarding driver terminal operations. Additionally, the supervisor is responsible for assessing the availability of drivers and tractor capacity for daily dispatch, which directly influences revenue generation and asset utilization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with assigned drivers daily to optimize their working hours and maximize their earnings while ensuring a satisfactory standard of living.
  • Collaborate with maintenance facilities to guarantee that all drivers and tractors are well-maintained and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as QCI standards.
  • Maintain a comprehensive driver calendar to track requested time off and other compliance-related unavailability.
  • Ensure accurate updates of drivers' hours of service in the Peoplenet system and authorize necessary adjustments.
  • Provide counseling to drivers on safety, compliance, and service matters, documenting all interactions as required.
  • Oversee the completion of monthly Infiniti training and coordinate additional refresher courses based on driver performance.
  • Assist independent contractors in making informed business decisions regarding freight acceptance and prepare them for anticipated repair costs.
  • Coordinate with the Dispatch Administrator daily to ensure all operational priorities are met.
  • Work alongside the Terminal Manager to implement necessary disciplinary actions in accordance with QCI's Disciplinary Action Standard Operating Procedures, fostering the personal growth of all drivers and independent contractors.

Qualifications:

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with individuals.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; a 2-year business degree is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in the bulk transportation industry.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations.
  • Experience with safety protocols.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
