We are seeking dedicated Medical Lab Technicians to contribute to the advancement of health through a rewarding full-time role in Sterling, CO.

POSITION SUMMARY
This role involves conducting both waived and non-waived laboratory tests as per CLIA '88 standards, ensuring accuracy and timeliness under supervision. The technician will assist in maintaining compliance with all relevant laboratory accreditation and regulatory standards, including CLIA '88, JCAHO, CAP, and OSHA. Reports will be made to the department supervisor, and responsibilities may include the collection, receipt, and processing of biological specimens.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Conducts laboratory testing with precision and within established timelines, adhering to policies and performance benchmarks. Responsible for the initiation, calibration, and accuracy of testing procedures and instruments. Utilizes independent judgment to identify necessary resources while demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of testing theory and clinical significance.

2. Identifies and verifies abnormal patient or quality control results, ensuring the reliability of test outcomes. Engages in documenting and addressing any deviations from standard procedures, demonstrating effective problem-solving skills.

3. Manages laboratory supplies and materials efficiently, contributing to inventory oversight. Recognizes opportunities for enhancing financial performance through cost reduction and productivity improvements.

4. Proactively engages in departmental projects as identified by supervisors and participates in the training of laboratory staff. Demonstrates capability in the supervisor's absence and provides guidance on pre-analytical, waived, and non-waived testing processes.

5. Communicates effectively and professionally with both internal and external stakeholders, addressing any communication challenges that arise. Promotes a collaborative environment through positive interactions and participation in team meetings.

6. May be involved in the processing and preparation of patient samples, which includes specimen collection and laboratory processing, ensuring accurate patient and specimen identification.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must meet one of the following criteria:
    • Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or
    • Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science (transcripts will be reviewed), or
    • Equivalent laboratory training and experience as defined by CLIA regulations, or
    • Other qualifications as specified in 42CFR, including military medical laboratory training.
  • Foreign-educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from a recognized agency.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy where applicable.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB).
  • Basic understanding of specimen requirements and medical terminology.
  • Prior experience in phlebotomy and specimen processing.
  • Additional relevant education and/or experience.
