About the Role

Harmony DC PCS is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Behavior Specialist to join our team for the 2024-25 school year. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to implement behavior intervention plans that promote positive growth and development in our students.

Job Description
  • Implementing Behavior Plans: Work closely with BCBAs to develop and implement tailored behavior intervention plans that address individual student needs. These plans focus on improving behavior, social skills, communication, and daily living skills.
  • Direct Client Interaction: Provide one-on-one therapy sessions to students, engaging them in activities and exercises that foster skill development and behavior modification based on the behavior plan.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Track and record data on student progress and behavior during therapy sessions, informing BCBAs about the effectiveness of interventions and guiding necessary adjustments to the behavior plan.
  • Reinforcement and Feedback: Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to encourage desired behaviors and discourage problem behaviors. Provide immediate feedback and rewards when students demonstrate targeted behaviors.
  • Observations and Reporting: Conduct observations and monitor students in various settings, gathering information about behavior patterns and triggers. Prepare progress reports and communicate with BCBAs and other team members.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Work as part of a collaborative team, including BCBAs, teachers, parents, and other professionals, to develop comprehensive treatment plans and ensure consistency in intervention strategies across different settings.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is generally required; some employers may prefer candidates with an associate or bachelor's degree in psychology, education, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and team members.
  • Patient, compassionate, and positive attitude essential for supporting individuals with behavioral challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and data collection.
  • Ability to follow instructions and implement behavior intervention plans with fidelity.
  • Willingness to learn and be receptive to feedback from supervisors.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $55,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, and a comprehensive benefits package. This includes medical, dental, vision insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan.
