Job Summary

Creative Pathways, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor - Behavioral Health Specialist to provide essential support services in an outpatient setting.

About the Role
  • This is a pivotal position where you will be responsible for delivering substance abuse treatment services, counseling individuals struggling with addiction, and teaching them coping mechanisms to overcome their dependency.
Responsibilities
  • Create comprehensive individualized treatment plans, referrals, and education services to address the needs of clients suffering from substance abuse.
  • Evaluate individual and family systems, assessing clients' functioning within work, family, and daily routines to identify areas requiring continued support and resources.
  • Maintain accurate case records to reflect treatment progress and ensure timely documentation compliance.
  • Provide follow-up and aftercare planning services as needed, expediting discharge for inactive clients when necessary.
  • Offer emergency services during work hours and after hours, adhering to assigned schedules.
  • Attend regular staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and activities ensuring smooth clinical operations.
  • Pursue other duties as directed by the Clinical Manager.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Holds a high school diploma with experience working with substance abuse populations.
  • Possesses a graduate or postgraduate degree in sociology, social work, arts, science, or a related field.
  • Is certified in alcohol and drug counseling.
  • May require a master's degree in social work, arts, or science for certain locations.
  • Must hold a license to practice as a substance abuse counselor.
