Job Overview

The Peel Compton Foundation is seeking a part-time Recreation Specialist to enhance the experience at The Quiver Archery Range. Candidates must be available for weekend shifts.

Position Highlights:

As a vital member of the archery instructor team, you will contribute to operational excellence by fostering a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all visitors. This role is essential for the daily management of the range. Paid training is provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide visitors in proper shooting techniques, safety protocols, and range etiquette. Conduct both formal classes and informal sessions while prioritizing safety.
  • Assist in the design and facilitation of programs and activities.
  • Enforce safety regulations and monitor equipment usage diligently.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, addressing visitor inquiries and ensuring a positive experience. Escalate issues to the range manager as necessary.
  • Manage the check-in area and small retail space, operate the POS system, and help visitors with profile creation and lane reservations.
  • Support range maintenance tasks, including cleaning and waste management.
  • Inspect and maintain various archery equipment, including bows and targets. Training will be provided for this task. Keep accurate records of equipment usage.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Operational Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in diverse weather conditions. Capable of lifting materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong public speaking and customer service skills are essential. Must engage with archers of all ages and backgrounds professionally.
  • This position requires weekend, evening, and holiday availability. Schedules may adjust based on weather and special events.
  • Part-time roles are available, with holiday pay provided on company holidays.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Prior archery experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Willingness to obtain a USA Archery Level 1 or Level 2 certification, with training provided.
  • A quick learner who can adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required; further education is preferred.

While performing the duties of this position, the associate is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment, reach with hands and arms, and communicate effectively.
