Position Overview
Corrections professionals play a vital role in creating a safe and supportive environment while promoting public safety through effective reentry strategies for individuals.
Our dedicated and diverse workforce is the cornerstone of safety and security. By adhering to principles of compassion and normalcy, we strive to cultivate responsible community members.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute recreational activities within a correctional facility, focusing on both individual and team sports, including but not limited to weightlifting, track and field, basketball, softball, and flag football.
- Design the sports program for the institution, which encompasses intramural sports leagues and tournaments, along with additional activities supported by available resources.
- Tailor and modify various recreational activities to accommodate a wide array of participant interests and needs, while adhering to budgetary constraints, facility limitations, and available volunteer and staff support.
- Organize and promote tournaments and sporting events, ensuring maximum engagement and motivation among participants, while offering a broad spectrum of activities to meet diverse interests.
In conjunction with all other staff members, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining the security of the institution. This security obligation takes precedence over all other duties associated with this position and is performed consistently.

Qualifications
- Education: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. Alternatively, a combination of education and experience that equips the candidate with the necessary qualifications to perform the primary duties of this role may be considered.
- Experience: Candidates should possess knowledge of the physical and psychological aspects of individual and team sports, as well as the organization and purpose of recreational or competitive sports.
- Examples of qualifying experience include roles such as athletic director, administrator, or coach within educational, community, or industrial sports programs.
Additional Information
This position is part of a bargaining unit and is subject to specific hiring conditions, including a maximum entry age for initial appointments. A recruitment incentive may be offered to qualified candidates. All applicants must successfully complete a series of pre-employment screenings.
