Job Overview

The Peel Compton Foundation is seeking a part-time Recreation Specialist to contribute to the operations at The Quiver Archery Range. Candidates must be available to work during weekends.

Position Highlights:

As a member of the archery instructor team, you will play a vital role in ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors. Your contributions will be essential to the daily operations of the range. Paid training is provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction to visitors on proper shooting techniques, safety protocols, and range etiquette. Conduct both formal classes and informal sessions while prioritizing safety.
  • Assist in the development and facilitation of various programs and activities.
  • Enforce safety regulations and monitor equipment usage to ensure compliance.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, addressing visitor inquiries and maintaining a positive atmosphere. Escalate issues to the range manager as necessary.
  • Manage the check-in area and small merchandise store, utilizing the POS system, and assist visitors with profile creation and lane reservations.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the range by performing tasks such as cleaning and trash disposal.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair various archery equipment, including bows and targets. Training will be provided. Keep accurate inventory records.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Operational Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in various weather conditions, including wet, cold, hot, humid, and sunny environments. Capable of lifting materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong public speaking and customer service skills are essential. Must interact professionally with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
  • This position requires weekend, evening, and holiday availability. Schedules may vary based on weather conditions and special events.
  • Part-time positions are available, with 4 hours of holiday pay on company holidays.

Candidate Profile:

  • Archery experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain a USA Archery Level 1 or Level 2 certification. Training and certification will be provided.
  • Quick learning ability and flexibility in adapting to changing priorities in a dynamic environment are required.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required; additional education is a plus.
