Mechanical Operations Supervisor

Position Summary:
The Mechanical Operations Supervisor is primarily accountable for overseeing, managing, and coordinating the Contractor's performance related to all railroad rolling stock, including locomotives, cab cars, and coaches. This role entails ensuring the safe and efficient daily operations while leading a dedicated team and collaborating with various levels of Alstom's and the client's organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to develop annual maintenance scopes and budgets.
- Ensure compliance with directives for signals, active warning devices, and communication systems.
- Manage maintenance activities during off-peak hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Conduct inspections and maintenance of the rolling stock fleet in accordance with contract requirements, prioritizing safety and minimizing disruptions.
- Respond promptly to incidents that may cause delays, ensuring swift recovery of services.
- Oversee on-site procurement and purchasing activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to senior leadership and public stakeholder groups.
- Proven management and leadership capabilities, with a focus on effective planning and organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and rail equipment maintenance software.
- Experience in managing subcontractor and vendor contracts to ensure quality and value.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Transportation or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in Passenger or Commuter Railroad Operations, with significant responsibilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to conduct inspections and lift equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Additional Information:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
- Must pass a background check and pre-employment physical examination.
