Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of our facilities at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and managing the maintenance, repair, and replacement of all equipment and properties, as well as ensuring the proper operation of emergency systems and fire detection systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage the maintenance, repair, and replacement of all equipment and properties
  • Ensure the proper operation of emergency systems, fire detection systems, and ADA access provisions
  • Supervise and manage facility maintenance to ensure operational efficiency and maintain discipline among facilities staff members
  • Assist in preparing departmental budgets to remain aligned with financial constraints
  • Supervise and manage outside contractors working on the property to ensure seamless operation of building-related systems
  • Verify performance of all contract services pertaining to maintenance
  • Supervise maintenance of museums rental properties
  • Train, develop, and review performance of maintenance operations and facilities staff to set standards and procedures
  • Maintain documentation of stock inventory of materials for facilities maintenance use
  • Maintain building blueprints and service manuals
  • Field all building-related phone calls, questions, and emails throughout the course of the workday
  • Work closely with MCASD's various other departments and stakeholders in support of overall Museum initiatives and goals
  • Manage facilities inventory and equipment tracking through PropertyTrak system
  • Supervise and manage Facilities Technicians in the performance of their duties
Requirements
  • Strong strategic oversight and hands-on management in facilities maintenance, budget administration, and team management
  • Practical hands-on experience and working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, woodworking, and general construction skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of language commonly associated with contracts, warranties, service reports, product specifications, building blueprints, and drawings
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work with Facilities team, contractors, service people, stakeholders, and Museum employees
  • Ability to maintain composure while resolving complaints and complex matters
  • Strong computer skills with intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Manual dexterity to operate equipment associated with electrical, plumbing, woodworking, and general minor construction
  • Ability to carry out physical maneuvers associated with maintenance, repair, replacement, and general upkeep of all equipment and properties
  • Ability to drive load truck
  • Ability to operate specialized equipment, such as a forklift and scissor lift
Preferred Qualifications
  • Public facilities or museum facilities experience
  • Supervisory/Management experience
