Job Title: Facilities Manager

At BioPhase, we are seeking a highly skilled Facilities Manager to oversee the smooth operation of our laboratory facilities. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance, safety, and functionality of our laboratory environment to support our ongoing R&D activities.

Main Responsibilities:Facilities Maintenance:
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for lab equipment, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and other critical infrastructure.
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance with external vendors, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential issues, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards.
Space Management:
  • Optimize lab space layout and utilization for maximum efficiency and productivity, collaborating with scientists and researchers to ensure seamless workflows.
  • Coordinate lab renovations, expansions, or relocations, ensuring minimal disruption to our operations.
  • Manage inventory and storage for lab supplies, chemicals, and hazardous materials, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Enforce safety protocols to minimize risks to personnel and the environment, conducting regular safety training sessions for lab staff.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory requirements for laboratory facilities, ensuring BioPhase remains compliant.
Budget Management:
  • Develop and manage the facilities budget, including expense forecasting and cost-saving opportunities, to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Evaluate proposals for facility improvements or upgrades, recommending cost-effective solutions that align with BioPhase's goals.
Emergency Preparedness:
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans for scenarios such as fire, chemical spills, or power outages, ensuring staff readiness and minimizing downtime.
  • Coordinate drills and training exercises to ensure staff preparedness for emergencies.
Vendor Management:
  • Maintain relationships with vendors, contractors, and service providers, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of services.
  • Solicit bids, negotiate contracts, and oversee outsourced services, ensuring compliance with BioPhase's procurement policies.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in facilities management, preferably in a biotech or pharmaceutical lab environment.
  • Strong understanding of building systems, lab equipment, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and relevant software applications.
Working Conditions:
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required during emergencies or special projects.
  • Exposure to laboratory environments and potentially hazardous materials, with strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Physical requirements may include lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
