As a Lead Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reviewing financial reports in accordance with established accounting principles within the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) network. You will reconcile accounts from the general ledger, prepare journal entries, and generate month-end reports. Your role will involve identifying complex accounting issues, researching solutions, and implementing corrective actions. You will also review financial statements and documentation to ensure compliance with accounting standards. This position may include leading special projects and participating in various accounting activities within the finance department. Your experience and judgment will be crucial in planning and achieving goals while managing complex tasks. A thorough understanding and application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Timely reconciliation, analysis, and adjustment of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication with financial institutions, tax authorities, external auditors, and corporate offices to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Generation of meaningful and timely reports, providing thorough responses to inquiries and ensuring audit work papers are completed efficiently.
  • Preparation of accurate journal entries by the monthly closing date, ensuring all supporting documentation is compiled and approvals are obtained.
  • Identification of accounting issues and internal control weaknesses, researching solutions, and presenting recommendations to management.
  • Contribution to the filing of Federal/State payroll tax returns, quarterly state sales/use tax returns, and annual reports.
  • Execution of additional duties and projects as assigned, adhering to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 4-6 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly organized with effective time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Excel) and/or Google Suite.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft Financials.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
