Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aerospace Engineer to join our team at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center. As a Pressure Garment System Technical Discipline Lead, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership in the development and implementation of pressure garment systems for space suits and crew survival systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical direction and leadership for the development of pressure garment systems, including conceptual definition studies, analysis, and testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and test pressure garment systems, ensuring compliance with NASA's safety and quality standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for mitigating risks associated with pressure garment systems.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Represent the Space Suit and Crew Survival Systems Branch at internal and external meetings, conferences, and workshops.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in aerospace engineering, with a focus on pressure garment systems and space suit design.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve project goals.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills, with the ability to develop and maintain technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for mitigating risks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with NASA's safety and quality standards, including the development and implementation of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Knowledge of pressure garment systems and space suit design, including materials, manufacturing processes, and testing methods.
  • Experience with technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
