This role as a Systems Engineer - Gateway HALO FCS involves collaborating with a diverse team to tackle exciting challenges in deep space exploration. Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct and present architectural trade studies and analyses that will impact overall design and performance.
  • Decompose requirements and develop specifications for Level 3 (Habitation and Logistics module).
  • Create verification and validation plans and statements.
  • Draft interface control documents.
  • Review and provide feedback on program documentation.
  • Support assessments related to crew equipment, including stowage containers and inventory management.
  • Engage with Gateway Program management and other key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with various Gateway system management teams, including power and life support.
  • Collaborate with other programs such as Orion and the Human Lander System.
  • Work effectively within a team environment, reporting progress and challenges to the team lead.
  • Contribute to various Advanced Exploration System (AES) Logistics Reduction projects, such as advanced clothing technologies and autonomous inventory management.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:

This position is open to candidates at multiple experience levels. We value diverse backgrounds and experiences.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in developing space systems requirements documents, including functional requirements and verification criteria.
  • Knowledge of design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space systems, particularly in habitation.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware domain.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective presentation in meetings.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and assess project needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with organizational processes at Johnson Space Center.
  • Experience with spacecraft habitation systems.
  • Knowledge of model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering processes and methodologies.
