Psychiatrist Opportunity at the Durham VA Health Care System
The Durham VA Health Care System is seeking a dedicated Psychiatrist to serve in either Durham or Raleigh. In this role, you will be integral in conducting psychiatric assessments, providing ongoing care, and managing medications for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct clinical evaluations and provide consultative services for mental health outpatients.
- Diagnose and treat a variety of mental health conditions, including post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, substance use disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and psychotic disorders.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to manage an outpatient caseload.
Clinical Duties:
- Oversee the clinical management of assigned patients.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with team members to address patient needs.
- Develop treatment plans and monitor the progress of patients.
- Implement approved care standards, including medication management and therapeutic interventions.
- Coordinate with healthcare resources to ensure seamless patient care.
- Stay informed about the latest developments and best practices in patient care.
- Document findings, assessments, and care plans during patient interactions.
- Order necessary diagnostic tests and incorporate results into clinical decision-making.
- Provide coverage for colleagues during their absence.
- Complete additional clinical responsibilities as required.
Administrative and Educational Responsibilities:
- Engage in patient and family health education initiatives.
- Participate in relevant conferences and committee meetings.
- Support staff development through educational opportunities and training.
- Address patient inquiries regarding their care and treatment.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends in patient management.
- Supervise and mentor trainees in the program.
- Fulfill administrative and educational tasks as assigned.
